Easy TVP Taco Meat
A taco filling made from TVP (textured vegetable protein). Easy and quick to make for when you're in desperate need of a taco!
Servings 4 servings
- ½ small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp oil
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 3 tbsp taco seasoning (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 tsp chipotle pepper powder (can sub smoked paprika)
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
- 1 cup dry TVP
- warm tortillas
- refried beans
- shredded lettuce
- shredded cheese
- sour cream
Saute the onion and garlic with the oil over medium heat until the onions become translucent.
Add the vegetable broth, and seasonings, bring to a low boil.
Stir in the TVP and reduce the heat to low.
Once the TVP absorbs the majority of the liquid, remove from heat. It should be moist but not watery.
Serve with warmed tortillas, refried beans, and salsa.
